Such thoughts have crossed my mind as well. There are several here who seem to have arrived only after experiencing a physical "death" of one form or another, myself included, though the trend is not prevalent enough to provide an explanation for our presence here.
The Princesses' may yet be of some use to us. Their innocence blinds them from the dangers that surround them. As for VIII and XII, they most assuredly deserve each other.
Oblivion was a failure. Larxene and Marluxia were both defeated by the Keybearer, with no little help from their traitorous accomplice. Lexaeus was bested by Riku, and my own attempts to sway him were unsuccessful. To the last of my knowledge, Axel had also gained control over your precious replica.
Since my arrival, I have been able to discern that Namine escaped from Oblivion and spent considerable time restoring Sora's rightful memories, which may have had an averse effect on Roxas. There are, of course, numerous other points of interest, but perhaps it would be best to discuss them in person.
